Vineyard Vines Margarita Tie |
|
The most documented story of the beginings of a Margarita comes from the Rancho La Gloria. A showgirl named Marjorie stopped there often, and she had a drinking "problem" of sorts: she was allergic to every form of booze except tequila, but couldn't drink it staright.
Trying various tequila experiments, one made the cut. The bartender created a concoction consisting of 3 parts white tequila, 2 parts Cointreau, and 1 part fresh lemon juice. He shook them together in a container of shaved ice, then served up in a short stemmed glass. This she liked, and so he gave the drink the Spanish name for Marjorie: Margarita.
